Prof. Peter Stang visited our school, June 26, 2015

On June 26th, invited by Prof. Tian He (Academician of CAS, Dean of School of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering), Prof. Peter Stang (Academician of the American Academy of Sciences, Foreign Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chief Editor of JACS, from the University of Utah) visited our school. Prof. Tian He greeted Prof. Peter Stang personally at the airport, and discussed with him about the international research forefront of supramolecular chemistry.

Prof. Stang first visited the Key Laboratory for Advanced Materials. Prof. Long Yitao made a detailed introduction of the construction, development of the Key Lab. After the visit, Prof. Stang attended the 151th "Famous Teacher Forum" and delivered a seminar report titled “Abiological Self-Assembly: Predesigned Metallacycles and Metallacages via Coordination”. Prof. Long Yitao hosted the lecture and Prof. Zhu Weihong, Hua Jianli, Zhao Chunchang also attended the lecture.

Prof. Stang made a detailed introduction on the synthesis and application of molecular self-assembly, including the self-assembly methods of rhombus, pentagon, hexagon, etc. What’ more, the properties of the supramolecular self-assembly, such as solubility, spectral characteristics, electrochemical activity and etc., are also involved. He also focused on the synthesis of 3D polyhedral self-assembly compounds as well as their applications in anti-tumor. After the lecture, Prof. Stang discussed with participants and exchanged opinions.
During the visit, the young scholars and students reported respectively their work summary to Prof. Stang and received one-on-one guidances from him. The reporter stated that they benefited a lot from valuable suggestions of Prof. Stang.
