On 2015 January 13th, Prof. Wang Hongyang (Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering), was appointed as the Honored Professor of ECUST. The ceremony was presided by Prof. Tian He (Academician of CAS), and Prof. Qian Feng (Vice-President of ECUST), Prof. Tang Yanhui (Secretary of School of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering) also attended the ceremony. After the introduction of Prof. Wang by Prof. Tian, Prof. Qian awarded Prof. Wang with the appointment letter of “Honored Professor of East China University of Science and Technology” as well as the University Badge.
In the ceremony, Prof. Qian welcomed and acknowledged the joining of Prof. Wang on behalf of ECUST. He stated that, the joining of Prof. Wang will further strengthen the cooperation between ECUST and Second Military Medical University, help promote the scientific research development as well as the disciplinary construction of cross-disciplinary of both universities. Prof. Wang indicated that she truly appreciated the trust from ECUST and felt great responsibility. She was delighted with the significant progress of our university in recent years and indicated that she will fully support the development of chemistry and other medical related disciplines of ECUST in the future. In addition, Prof. Wang emphasized that today was a new starting point with the 973 group of Prof. Tian. With the strong engineering background and the rich experience accumulated by ECUST, she was willing to face challenge with experts and scholars in the university. With the steady support of ECUST, she would like to make more efforts and attempts to benefit the society with better achievements.
After the ceremony, Prof. Wang attended the 143th "Famous Teacher Forum" and delivered a seminar report titled "Promoting the development of cross-disciplinary: opportunities and challenges". Prof. Wang pointed out that under the background of the rapid development of international scientific research, research ability and achievements in various subjects had reached a certain level. But due to the bottleneck between the disciplines, the depth and breadth of scientific research was hampered. Under such circumstance, scientific researchers should seize the opportunity to face the challenge and promote the development of cross-disciplinary research.
After the lecture, the seminar of "Early detection of hepatocellular carcinoma markers" was held. The participant dove into discussion about "AFP and AFP-L3 Integrated Rapid detection", "new device for surface detection of circulating hepatocellular carcinoma cells", "new method for the detection of GPC-3". This seminar built a bridge between "basic chemical research" and "medical examination", which laid the foundation for future cross-disciplinary research.

She now serves as the director of Department of Health Sciences, National Natural Science Foundation of China. She has long been engaged in the basic and clinical research of malignant tumors and achieves great success in the signal network regulation of tumors, and the identification and application of new molecular markers of hepatoma.
