Prof. Feng Xiaoming visited our school

On 2014 December 29th, invited by Prof. Tian He (Academician of CAS, Dean of School of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering), Prof. Feng Xiaoming (Academician of CAS) from Sichuan University visited our school
Prof. Feng first visited the Key Laboratory for Advanced Materials. Prof. Tian made a detailed introduction of the construction, development of the Key Laboratory.

After the visit, Prof. Feng attended the 141th "Famous Teacher Forum" and gave a lecture titled “Application of double nitrogen oxygen compounds of chiral catalysts in asymmetric reactions”. Prof. Tian He hosted the lecture and Prof. Zhu Weihong, Zhu Linyong, Zhang Jinlong, Xie Yongshu, Zhong Xinhua, Hua Jianli, Tong Xiaofeng also attended the lecture.
In the lecture, Prof. Feng started from his subject selection after he returned from abroad and worked as an independent PI, and detailed his experience from the subject selection, preliminary results obtain, to further intensive research and great scientific achievements. Prof. Feng also shared his scientific research ideas and innovative thinking, without superstition to the authorities. What’s more, Prof. Feng explained in detail the design, synthesis and catalytic asymmetric reactions of double nitrogen oxygen compound, the attempt of industrial application was also included. In particular, compounds of this type had a unique structure which can be widely used for the dozens of reaction.

After the lecture, the young teacher of our school, including Zhu Weihong, Xie Yongshu, Qu Dahui, Guo Zhiqian, Wu Junchen, respectively made summary reports to Prof. Feng together with one-on-one guidances from him. The participant stated that they benefited a lot from the guidance from Prof. Feng, who pointed out the direction for their future sustainable development.

CV of Prof. Feng Xiaoming
Xiaoming Feng was born in Sichuan, China in 1964. Between 1981 and 1988, he studied chemistry at Lanzhou University. He received his BS in 1985 and MS in 1988 from the same university. Then he became an associate professor at Southwest Normal University in 1991 until 1993.
