Prof. Mary Chan and Prof. Duan Hongwei from Nanyang Technological University visited our school

Apr. 29th, invited by Prof. Zhong Xinhua (School of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering), Professor Mary Chan and Professor Duan Hongwei from Nanyang Technological University visited our school and made an academic report respectively. Prof. Zhong Xinhua hosted the lecture and Prof. Zhu Linyong, Guo Xuhong, Lang Meidong, Zheng Anna also attended the lecture.

Prof. Mary Chan gave a lecture titled "A new class of contact active antimicrobial polymer and coatings", which introduced her research group using antimicrobial coated polymer to synthetise hydrogel type antibacterial polymer. This polymer had a higher contacting activity. In addition, her group found a new type non-toxic cationic chitosan antibacterial polymer which prepared in the solution. This polymer achieved a wide spectrum of antibacterial activity and high selectivity.

Prof. Duan Hongwei gave a lecture titled "Surface-Engineered Nanocrystals: Synthesis, Self-Assembly, and Applications". His lecture mainly focused on his work in the aspect of functional nanoparticles surface, included the synthesis of two dear nano particles, modification of surface and interfacial self-assembly, etc.

After the lecture, two professor discussed with participants and exchanged opinions.
