Prof. Zhou Qilin from Nankai University visited our school

Sep. 20th, invited by Prof. Tian He (Academician of CAS, Dean of School of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering), Professor Zhou Qilin, (Honored Professor of ECUST, Outstanding Alumni of ECUST, Academician of CAS) from Nankai University visited our university.

Prof. Zhou Qilin first visited the Key Laboratory for Advanced Materials. Prof. Tian He made a detailed introduction of the construction, development and the proposal of application for State Key Laboratory, and Prof. Zhou Qilin gave some valuable suggestions on the sustainable development for the Key Laboratory.

After the visit, Prof. Zhou discussed with Prof. Tian He and Prof. Long Yitao about the topic of “proposal of application for State Key Laboratory” and “building innovation research groups”. Prof. Tian He summarized the Key Laboratory work in nearly three years, he pointed out that Key Laboratory achieved fruitful results under the care and support of administrations and the joint efforts undertaken by our researchers. The Key Lab for Advanced Materials of our university was ranked of excellence. Furthermore, several honors and prizes have been achieved including a 973 project(as the chief unit), the Second Prize for National Natural Science (1), Innovation Group of National Natural Science Foundation of China (2), National Outstanding Youth Fund (2) and National Excellent Youth Fund (2). According to these achievements, the cultivation and construction of high-level scientific research team for ECUST will be the issue NO.1 of our university in the near future. Prof. Long Yitao briefed the overall progress of the Innovation Research Groups, including the research basic, recent progress, the future research proposals and arrangements. Prof. Long pointed out that the main objective of innovation research groups was to establish an advanced research platform, improve research and innovation capacity, culture cutting-edge chemical research talent. Prof. Zhou was delighted with the significant progress of our university in recent years and indicated that he will fully support the development of chemistry and other disciplines of ECUST in the future. Prof. Zhou combined with their work, introduced the experience of reporting and constructing State Key Laboratory, which put forward valuable advices for our declaration.
