The annual review meeting of one 973 Project was held, December 19th, 2013

Dec. 16th-19th, 2013, the annual review meeting of 973 Project "Basic research of molecular probes to identify tumor specific serum markers" was held.

Prof. Zhang Yukui from Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics (Academician of CAS, expert of "973" integrated cross-disciplinary advisory group), Prof. Cao ZhuAn from Qinghua University (expert of "973" integrated cross-disciplinary advisory group), Prof. Chen Siping from Shenzhen University (expert  of "973" integrated cross-disciplinary advisory group), Prof. Tong Zhenghe from Technical Institute of Physics and Chemitry (Academician of CAS, Experts of Project team), Prof. Chen Xiaoming from Zhongshan University (Academician of CAS, Experts of Project team), Prof. Tian He from East China University of Science and Technology (Academician of CAS, Experts of Project team), Dr. Qian Qingli from Basic Research Managerment Center of the Department of Science and Technology, Prof. Zhang Deqing from the Institute of Chemistry (Director of the Institute of Chemistry), Fu Yao (vice president of research centers of ECUST) and Subjects Leaders as well as teachers participated in this 973 Project all attended the meeting. The meeting was presided by Fu Yao.

Sujects leaders have reported the research implementation, progress, existing problems as well as future work arrangements in details on all four subjects, respectively. After listening to the reports, project team experts conducted comments on research results and achievements of four different subjects and raised constructive suggestions. All participants carried out an ardent discussion and exchanged their opinions on existing problems with common interests.

National "973" Project "Basic research of molecular probes to identify tumor specific serum markers" focuses on the need of early tumor diagnose, pursues international research frontier, combines multi-disciplines as supramolecular chemistry, synthetic chemistry, analytical chemistry, biological chemistry, molecular biology and clinical medicine to discover specific tumor markers and develop high sensitive molecular probes with specificity. Based on this, new method and technology of molecular sensors on tumor serum markers will be developed to provide support for early warning on clinical early tumors. Through the research of this project, high sensitive, original key technology for early tumor diagnose with specificity based on metabolism markers will be developed. Meanwhile, a serie of molecular sensors on tumor-specific serum metabolism markers will be developed to resolve the bottle-neck problems on tumor-specific, high sensitivity probing. The project will face to clinical practise all the time and aim on the discovery of tumor early warning on the basis of innovation. The project will also culture a multi-disciplinary talent team with chemistry, biology and medicine, promote the diagnosis level of tumor serum markers of our country.
