Recently, the results of Assessment of Key Lab of Education Ministry were announced in File[2013], NO.62 of Education Ministry. The Key Lab for Advanced Materials of our university was ranked of excellence.

    On September 5th, 2013, the expert group of the Ministry of Education conducted an assessment of the Key Lab for Advanced Materials of our university. The Key Lab accquired the first place in the first phase. On September 25th, Mr. Yang Xianjin (Party Secretary of school), Prof. Tian He (Director of the Key Lab), Prof. Mu Bozhong (Executive vice president of the Scientific Research Institute) and Mr. Cheng Yi (Deputy secretary of the school of chemistry) participated the re-evaluation meeting of the assessment in Beijing. During the meeting, Prof. Tian gave a report on 5 aspects: the basic situation of the key lab, overall positioning and goals of the key lab, research and academic achievements, research team building and talent cultivation, open communication and lab management. Prof. Tian stated that, we hope to promote further lab construction and achieve excellency through this assessment, and lay a solid foundation for the application of State Key Lab. In addition, during the respondent session, Prof. Tian answered one by one the questions raised by experts.

    Apart from the defense, Secretary Yang Xianjin also exchanged opinions with Prof. Tian about the excellence of the Key Lab of Education Ministry as well as the further development of the State Key Lab. Secretary Yang emphasized that we have to grap the opportunity of this assessment, strike while the iron is hot, extract the experiences and lessons learnt from the past five years of development and the assessment and formulate an efficient, scientific and executive "the State Key Lab Cultivation Plan". Prof. Tian stated that, the first issue for the application of the State Key Lab is to construct the scientific basement which meets the standard of the State Key Lab and at the same time combined the advantangeous resources of the university to explore and creat the key point for applications. Prof. Tian also emphasized that the behavior of "Behind closed doors" must be avoided and we should learn earnestly and pragmatically from State Key Labs of high levels.
