The Historic Innovation Research Groups Project of NSFC of Our University

Recently, the National Natural Science Foundation Committee (NSFC) announced the 2014 annual NSFC project assessment results, and the Innovation Research Groups Project “Optical-Electronic Analytical Chemistry on Interface” of our school obtained project approval. This innovation research group was based on the Key Laboratory for Advanced Materials, with Prof. Long Yitao as the leader of this group.

For decades, led by the director Prof. Tian He, aiming at the in situ, dynamic and real-time analysis of interfacial charge transfer and energy transfer process, the group with innovative spirit and the courage to explore was formed gradually in the process of research cooperation and talent-culture.

In order to realize the precise analysis and theoretical simulation of the interface photoelectric process together with the research of interface photoelectric analysis and conversion mechanism, Dr. Long Yi-Tao who are engaged in optoelectronic analysis of interface was introduced to our university from University of California, Berkeley (UCB). After joined the group, Prof. Long combined the advantage of electrical and nano-spectroscopy analysis with existing research on functional organic dyes and photoelectric functional interface to achieve the innovation and breakthrough in the micro-nano interface analysis, optical analysis of single molecules and established the new analysis method of interface photoelectric behaviors. In order to further explore the photoelectric recognition interface system, Dr. Zhu Linyong and Dr. Xie Yongshu joined this group from the USA and Japan, respectively. They obtained outstanding achievements in cross-disciplinary study of optical signal acquisition interface, enhanced with sensing analysis.

In addition to excellent talents acquisition from oversees, internally talent-culture was also put in an important place. Three National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation prize winners and two National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation nomination award winners were brought out by Prof. Tian He. As the group backbone, Prof. Zhu Weihong presented a new model of high stability of electro-optical molecules, achieved breakthrough in the construction method of structure controllable photoelectric functional interface research field. He also brought out one National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation nomination award winner.

Talent acquisition together with self-culture improved the construction of our group talent echelon with four National Outstanding Youth Fund Winners. The innovation group possesses a reasonable talent structure: post-60 as the leaders, post-70 as the backbones, post-80 as the reserve talents. The cultivation and construction of high-level scientific research team for ECUST will be the issue NO.1 of our university in the near future.
