Ben L. Feringa-ECUST

      Ben L. Feringa,1951年5月18日生于荷兰,1978年获得荷兰格罗林根大学有机化学博士学位,师从Hans Wynberg教授。1978-1984年期间,在荷兰皇家壳牌石油公司做化学研究员及项目负责人,主攻有机合成、氧化过程、光化学、均相催化剂。1984年,Feringa加入荷兰格罗林根大学,任有机化学系讲师;1988年,Feringa被聘为荷兰格罗林根大学化学系全职教授;1991-1995年期间,Feringa被任命为有机和分子无机化学系主任,2003-2011年期间,Feringa被任命格罗林根大学Stratingh化学研究所主任;2004,Feringa被提名为Jacobus H. van't Hoff 分子科学杰出教授;2004年,Feringa成为美国艺术和科学院外籍院士;2008年,Feringa被任命为荷兰皇家科学院副院长;同年,Feringa被荷兰女王封为骑士。     
      Feringa教授主要从事立体化学,有机合成化学,不对称催化,分子开关,分子马达,分子自组装以及分子纳米系统的研究。Feringa教授的研究团队于1999年发明首个人工合成的分子马达,该“马达”可以将光作为驱动能源,然后沿着一个方向连续转动,第一个分子马达的成功合成,为分子机器领域的研究提供了崭新的思路。历年来,Ben L. Feringa教授在国际学术期刊上发表论文800多篇,包括Nature、Science、Nat. Chem、Nat. Commun、JACS、Angew. Chem. Int. Ed.、Adv. Mater.等。Ben L. Feringa教授由于其杰出的科研工作,已经在相关领域多次获奖,先后获得Koerber欧洲科学奖(2003)、荷兰最高科学奖Spinoza奖(2004),Prelog金奖(2005),美国化学会Norrish奖(2007),Paracelsus奖章(2008)、手性奖章(2009)、英国皇家化学会有机立体化学奖(2011)、居里夫人奖章(2013)、Nagoya金奖(2013)等奖项。并与J. Fraser Stoddart教授、Jean-Pierre Sauvage教授一同获得了2016年诺贝尔化学奖。
      2017年6月,Ben L. Feringa教授受聘为我校“国际知名大师客座教授”,招生专业为应用化学和有机化学。

Ben L. Feringa was born in 18 May 1951, he obtained his PhD degree at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands under the guidance of Professor Hans Wynberg. After working as a research scientist at Shell in the Netherlands and at the Shell Biosciences Centre in the UK, he was appointed lecturer and in 1988 full professor at the University of Groningen and named the Jacobus H. van't Hoff Distinguished Professor of Molecular Sciences in 2004. He was elected Foreign Honory member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and is member and vice-president of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Sciences. In 2008 he was appointed Academy Professor and was knighted by Her Majesty the Queen of the Netherlands. His research interest includes stereochemistry, organic synthesis, asymmetric catalysis, optopharma, molecular switches and motors, self-assembly and molecular nanosystems.
Feringa's research has been recognized with a number of awards including the Koerber European Science Award (2003), the Spinoza Award (2004), the Prelog gold medal (2005), the Norrish Award of the ACS (2007), the Paracelsus medal (2008), the Chirality medal (2009),the RSC Organic Stereochemistry Award (2011), Humboldt Award (2012), the Grand Prix Scientifique Cino del Duca (French Academy 2012), the Marie Curie medal (2013) , the Nagoya Gold Medal (2013), the Theodor Föster Award (2014), the Chemistry for the future Solvay prize (2015). And he is awarded the 2016 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, together with Sir J. Fraser Stoddart and Jean-Pierre Sauvage, for the design and synthesis of molecular machines.
